One of the most exciting things about coming to New York Bridal Week with our sister shop, Alta Moda Bridal, is that we get to attend all these gorgeous runway shows for couture bridal designers like Monique Lhuillier, Modern Trousseau, Rivini, Jenny Packham, Elizabeth Fillmore… you get the idea.
Don’t get us wrong, we adore bridesmaids and reception dresses, but there is just something especially spectacular about seeing the amazing couture gowns these designers are presenting for the Spring 2013 season.
Swaths of lace, tufts of tulle, folds of chiffon and organza, and don’t forget the satins. In our world that is usually doused in brilliant color, it’s a welcome change to take in some softer shades of ivory, cream, white, and champagne.
We wanted to take a quick minute to share some of our favorites of the trends we saw emerging at market this season:
In lace from Augusta Jones
Beaded lace and organza from Rivini:
And intricately beaded chiffon from Jenny Packham (an overall favorite of ours!)
Another fun trend was the removable tulle over-skirt, with a cute little sheath underneath. We loved this one from Anne Barge.
And, one of our favorite bridal trends (and one Utah brides go for in a big way) COLOR! Whether subtle and soft, or bold and beautiful, we saw wedding dresses in color from just about every designer.
This blue number took our breath away, from Tara LaTour:
Or this fabulous gown, in new color “Aurora” from Rivini:
And don’t forget this beautiful Cinderella blue from Modern Trousseau.
We had a blast at New York Bridal Week, and can’t wait to tell you more about it! Stay tuned on the blog this week for more recaps, including some exciting news from Lily & Iris favorites Amsale and Aria!
